Going the Extra Mile to Get a Job
"Going the Extra Mile to Get a Job"
KCOY -- Finding a job on the central coast has proven to be very hard for some people. Many turn to the Workforce Resource Center in Santa Maria to assist them in getting one.
It's been a long time since Paul Delgado has had a job and since he's been looking for so long he's not being picky. He says, "Right now, as far as the economy is going and everything, anything really. You know what I mean? Anything I can get my hands on, I'm open to it."
Things might be looking up soon though; he has been building resumes and filling out job applications at the workforce resource center in Santa Maria. But it's the fact that he almost has his degree that's building his confidence.
He's not the only one that is going to school to better their chances of landing a job. Christine Butler moved to Santa Maria from Bakersfield because her job search there wasn't going well. She says, "I'm planning to go to SBBC and taking another exam in the LVN program because I have my CNA license and to further that on."
